I grew up in Rio Grande, NJ just over the bridge from the Wildwoods, a popular shore community known for its beaches and boardwalks, and its amusement piers and back bays. While this book is fiction, many memories of my youth went into the story of Anni and Michael. Arcades, namely Ed’s Funcade in North Wildwood, where I spent many days playing the Phantom of the Opera pinball game, and Hassle’s Ice Cream Parlor and Mini Golf which has the greatest waffles and ice cream you will ever have. Other memories include Morey’s Piers, The Sea Serpent roller coaster, Raging Waters and The Kite Shop.  All of those places are still there!

I still live at the Jersey Shore area of Cape May County, New Jersey with my husband, Kevin and three children.  I love my job teaching Psychology at Atlantic Cape Community College, and I am an active volunteer with the Girl Scouts. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice at Montclair State University and a Master’s Degree in Teaching at Rowan University. One Loose String is my first novel and was inspired by many summers at the beach, especially my family’s motel, The Sans Souci, once a landmark in North Wildwood, New Jersey.

The ideas for this book grew out of a collaboration of stories told by people who grew up on the barrier islands of Cape May County, including my husband, Kevin, who grew up in Avalon.  And, of course, I throw in some of my own experiences there, but I’ll never tell which ones!
